Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Leader to inspire and guide children in before/after school programs and day camps. You will create a safe, engaging environment, plan inclusive activities, and support families and school staff while promoting YMCA values.

The role involves active supervision, relationship-building, and delivering age-appropriate programming across sites. Training and ongoing development are provided, with a focus on safety and inclusivity.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and HS diploma or GED.
• Six months of experience with youth in licensed facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention training (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to plan and lead age-appropriate activities.
• Pass state/local background checks and fingerprinting.
• TB test and any required immunizations per guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, fun, and enriching environment for youth in before/after school and day camp programs.
• Monitor activities, conduct headcounts, and respond confidently to incidents.
• Lead activities and adapt to diverse needs and interests of every child.
• Model YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.
• Support daily operations and keep the program space clean and safe.
• Build strong relationships with youth, families, staff, and partners.
