Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston seeks a Youth Development Director to lead afterschool and day camp programs across Fort Bend County, including Mustang Park, Four Corners, Barbara Jordan, and Camp Cloud. This position builds safe, engaging environments and partners with schools and community groups to extend reach and impact.

You will recruit, hire, and develop site leaders and counselors, manage budgets, and ensure licensing and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience managing youth programs, afterschool programs, camps, or related services.
• 3-5 years supervisory experience in licensed childcare (preferred).
• Bachelor’s degree in business, education, non-profit management or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Must meet Director qualifications as stated in the Minimum Standards (744.1015) under TDPRS.
• Proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with schools, community organizations, and other stakeholders to support program goals, grant objectives, and community impact.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Available for training on occasional weekends and after hours.

Responsibilities

• Provide oversight of afterschool and outdoor day camp programs, ensuring quality and safety.
• Develop relationships with schools and community partners to support site operations.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop staff to meet licensing standards.
• Manage site budgets and payroll, ensuring fiscal responsibility.
• Monitor program quality through continuous evaluation and licensing compliance.
• Lead project teams and participate in annual fundraising campaigns.
• Ensure proper parent and community communication and engagement.
