Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking a Youth Development Director to lead afterschool and day camp programs across Fort Bend County, including Mustang Park, Four Corners, Barbara Jordan and other sites. You will build a safe, engaging atmosphere and supervise site leads and counselors to deliver high-quality programs.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience managing youth programs or camps preferred.
• Ability to build partnerships with schools and communities.

Responsibilities

• Program Quality: Provides oversight and coordinates high-quality youth development programs in afterschool and outdoor day camp setting for assigned location(s).
• Program Compliance: Ensures compliance with state and local regulations and risk management policies.
• Program Planning & Innovation: Assist staff in planning age-appropriate activities; fosters innovation and prudent risk-taking.
• Program Expansion & Development: Identifies opportunities for growth and partners with schools and community organizations.
• Staff Development: Recruits, hires, trains staff to meet licensing standards and staffing ratios.
• Fiscal Management: Manages site budgets; payroll and accounts; ensures fiscal goals.
• Marketing & Promotion: Implements marketing strategies to promote program growth and brand exposure.
• Community Engagement: Builds relationships with families; communicates via orientations and events.
• Center Engagement: Collaborates with center staff and leaders; maintains open communication.
• Relationship Building: Builds strong ties with schools and community groups for program goals.
• Program Evaluation: Collects data to monitor effectiveness and informs improvements.
• Annual Campaign: Participates in fundraising campaigns and supports staff involvement.
• Project Teams: Engages in projects to advance the department’s strategic goals.
• Child Abuse Prevention: Follows policies and reporting requirements; ensures safety protocols.
