Job summary

Auburn University in Alabama seeks a student intern to support alumni relations and development activities. You will help with financial and administrative tasks, coordinate communications with alumni and donors, and assist with event-related processing.

The role involves preparing thank-you letters, organizing alumni visits for major gifts officers, and managing monthly birthday mailings. You will also help schedule marketing emails and support program enhancements as needed.

Qualifications

  • Graduate or undergraduate student with at least one semester of office experience.
  • 60 credit hours completed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in a fast-paced office.
  • Experience with invoices or financial paperwork preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support alumni relations and development through financial and administrative processes.
  • Coordinate alumni and donor communications and engagement initiatives.
  • Process department finance documents (dues, event revenue/expenses, gifts).
  • Assist development team with donor thank-you letters, alumni visits for major gifts officers, and monthly birthday card mailings.
  • Assist with marketing emails via Constant Contact: monthly birthday emails, renewal reminders, and car tag renewals.
  • Support advancement team with tasks such as P-card reconciliation and outreach/engagement research.

Job description

Responsibilities
  • Support alumni relations and development efforts through financial and administrative processes.
  • Coordinate alumni and donor communications and engagement initiatives.
  • Process finance‑related documents for the department, including:
    • Alumni membership dues
    • Event revenue
    • Event expenses
    • Gift allocations
  • Assist the development team with tasks such as:
    • Writing thank‑you letters for donors
    • Coordinating alumni visits for major senior gifts officer
    • Managing print and mailing of monthly birthday cards
  • Assist with and manage the marketing email schedule through Constant Contact:
    • Monthly birthday emails to all alumni
    • Membership renewal reminders to alumni association members
    • Car tag renewals to AUM car tag holders
  • As time permits, assist the advancement team with tasks such as:
    • P‑card reconciliation
    • Researching and proposing alumni association program advancements
    • Identifying alumni with significant achievements and coordinating outreach/engagement
    • Additional requests as needed
Qualifications

Graduate or undergraduate student with at least one semester of office experience and 60 credit hours completed. Ability to exercise good judgment and excellent oral and written communication skills is required. Office experience is preferred.

  • Experience working with invoices, receipts, or other financial paperwork.
