Job summary

Avangrid Power in Wasco, Oregon, seeks a Wind Turbine Technician to operate, inspect, and repair wind turbine equipment and related infrastructure at the site. The role leads maintenance activities and reports to the Plant Manager, with responsibilities spanning mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.

The position requires climbing towers, lifting heavy objects, and willingness to travel 10–15% to other sites.

Qualifications

• One year college or technical school certificate or 12 months related experience or wind industry training.
• Familiarity with maintenance and electronic testing equipment.
• Advanced computer skills for word processing and reporting systems.
• Ability to climb towers up to 100 meters daily for maintenance.
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.
• Valid driver's license and driving record acceptable.
• Knowledge of heavy equipment and crane/rigging basics.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain wind turbine equipment and related infrastructure.
• Read schematics and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
• Repair or replace faulty mechanical/electrical components per OEM specs.
• Comply with project environmental health and safety programs.
• Perform preventive maintenance per OEM manuals.
• Ensure internal control procedures are followed.
• Collect data and prepare wind plant reports as required.
• Carry out retrofits and design modifications.
• Support QA/QC and assist Construction during walk-downs when needed.
