Job summary

The Pivot Group Network in Whitehall, MI is partnering with leading manufacturers to place a Welding Engineer who can design and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) and support production with welding improvements.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Welding Engineering or related field, 5+ years of welding engineering experience, and AWS CWI or equivalent. Knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW, metallurgy, and WPQ/PQR is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Welding Engineering, Materials Science or related field.
5+ years in welding engineering within manufacturing.
AWS CWI or equivalent certification.
Proficient in welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, FCAW).
Strong metallurgy knowledge and impact on weld quality.
Experience with weld design, WPQ/PQR development and qualification.

Responsibilities

Develop and qualify welding procedures (WPS/PQR) in accordance with industry standards.
Provide technical support and expertise to production for welding-related issues and improvements.
Conduct root cause analysis for welding defects and implement corrective actions.
Evaluate and select appropriate welding equipment, consumables, and robotic systems.
Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to optimize weldability and joint design.
Ensure compliance with relevant welding codes, specifications, and quality standards.
