Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Unit Secretary for weekend shifts (Sat/Sun 07:00–19:30) on a 0.6 FTE, part-time schedule. The role greets patients, supports the care team, and coordinates information at the nurses’ station.

You will manage medical records, assist with EMR processes, and help maintain unit flow, bed tracking, and communications using AIDET. This position offers patient-centered service in a busy hospital environment.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• High School or GED is required; college coursework is preferred.
• Unit secretary experience is a plus and medical terminology is beneficial.

Responsabilités

• Greet patients, visitors and staff and manage front-desk communications.
• Coordinate calls on multiple lines and route according to NMH standards using AIDET.
• Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and coordinate nurse station information flow.
• Prepare and maintain medical records, including scanning forms and EMR readiness.
• Support unit readiness for EMR downtime and report EMR issues to IT Help desk.
• Manage desk flow, supplies, equipment requests and maintain organized nursing station.
• Ensure regulatory documentation is complete and notify care teams as needed.
• Track bed census and patient flow; assist with charging entries.
