Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator to support patient flow in the unit, manage registration, and assist with clerical tasks. The role emphasizes accuracy, communication, and collaboration with the nursing team and physicians.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Basic computer knowledge required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to assess situations requiring an interpreter and use interpreter services effectively.
• Excellent customer service skills required.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients, families and staff in a courteous manner.
• Register patients in the computer and maintain accurate records.
• Transcribe orders accurately and ensure timely/ accurate delivery of medications and supplies.
• Coordinate work with the Manager and Charge Nurse and communicate with physicians.
