Job summary

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator for a full-time 3pm-11:30pm shift with rotating weekends at CDH Medical Care Center (4 A/B/C). The role supports adult general medical and medical oncology units, handling patient registration, medical records, and interdepartmental coordination to ensure smooth unit operations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written.
• Ability to assess and determine situations requiring an interpreter and to use interpreter services effectively
• Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

• Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
• Provides accurate information and timely updates to patients and customers.
• Addresses questions and concerns promptly, or identifies appropriate person and resources to do so.
• Prepares medical records for new admissions and disassembles the chart and forwards to Medical Records upon patient discharge.
• Registers patient in the computer and conducts pre-census.
• Orders supplies and prints all forms used for patients charts.
• Communicates with Manager and Charge Nurse and liaises with other departments.
