Job summary

The Women's Center is seeking a Shelter Advocate for weekend coverage to provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and supportive services to shelter residents and hotline callers. This role requires availability for evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays as needed.

You will work within Residential Services - Shelter, collaborating with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure safe shelter operations and client-centered care.

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic violence, sexual violence, crisis intervention or shelter programs.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, emotional support, and referrals to residents and hotline callers.
• Maintain a safe, supportive environment and assist those affected by violence.
• Serve as primary staff for the 24-hour crisis hotline, including information and pre-screening of residents.
• Apply trauma-informed, client-centered approaches in interactions.
• Assist clients with accessing transportation and community resources.
