Job summary

The Crisis Center for South Suburbia is seeking a dedicated Domestic Violence Advocate to provide crisis intervention, residential client services, and administrative support in our shelter environment. Responsibilities include answering the 24-hour hotline, intakes, case management support, and coordinating referrals to ensure client safety and well-being.

This on-call role requires 3rd shift (12 AM – 8 AM) and weekend availability, with a strong emphasis on compassion, community resources, and

Responsibilities

• Answer the 24-hour crisis hotline and provide crisis intervention and referrals.
• Complete agency intakes and document shelter intakes.
• Process hotline documentation and client intake forms accurately.
• Respond to inquiries with timely, compassionate customer service.
• Monitor entry of clients and visitors for safety and security.
• Complete shelter check-ins and exits with thorough documentation.
• Establish regular client check-ins and track needs.
• Facilitate shelter tours, assign rooms, and distribute linens.
• Prepare and serve meals; maintain kitchen cleanliness.
• Maintain a clean shelter kitchen and pantry; rotate food stock.
• Assist with room changes and ensure safety and compliance.
• Enforce shelter guidelines with compassion.
• Provide trauma-informed care and domestic violence education.
• Facilitate group sessions on communication, life skills, and DV education.
• Refer clients to local services and resources.
• Manage shelter cleanliness, tasks, and safety.
• Track residential storage and manage belongings.
• Process daily shift reports and document client interactions.
• Document repairs in Mojo ticket system and maintain records.
• Maintain Empower entries and coordinate with Data Entry Clerk.
• Assist training of new staff, volunteers, and interns.
• Ensure supplies are stocked and hotline/RM station is clean.
• Accept and document in-kind donations.
