Job summary

Women's Advocates in Saint Paul, MN, seeks a Shelter Advocate to provide crisis counseling and advocacy for women and families experiencing domestic violence. The role includes intake, risk assessment, safety planning, information and referrals, and ensuring residents receive meals while maintaining a clean, safe facility.

The position is full-time and in-office with benefits. The schedule runs 3pm–11pm on different days, and you will work with a dedicated team to support residents on their path

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working with vulnerable individuals, families and children.
• Extensive knowledge of local resources and crisis call management.
• Experience with crisis calls and data entry in Microsoft Office and ClientTrack.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize, and maintain confidentiality.
• Intercultural development and anti-racism commitment; LGBTQ+ inclusivity.
• Driver's license and willingness to undergo background check.
• Second language is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Screen and assess callers and residents for immediate safety needs.
• Develop safety plans over the phone and in person.
• Provide counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention services.
• Enter and track information in ClientTrack and related systems.
• Maintain documentation of shift events and resident concerns.
• Assist new participants with intake and shelter enrollment.
• Support meals, laundry, and facility cleanliness during shifts.
• Mentor Crisis Response Advocates and participate in on-call rotations.
