Job summary

Susan B. Anthony Project is seeking a Part-Time Shelter Support staff to help victims/survivors of domestic and sexual violence. This on-site role requires weekend shifts, crisis-line availability, and active participation in shelter operations and client advocacy.

Responsibilities include client intake, counseling support, coordination with partners, and helping residents achieve personal goals while ensuring safety and cleanliness of the facility.

Qualifications

• Education/experience gained through relevant training, employment or volunteer work.
• Knowledge of counseling and social services.
• Ability to work with victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with staff to provide crisis line coverage 24/7 and be available for after-hours shifts as required.
• Provide support counseling, advocacy, referral and follow-up for clients.
• Complete shelter screenings and intakes within 24 hours.
• Welcome and orient new residents.
• Support residents in achieving short and long-term goals.
• Conduct case management meetings.
• Coordinate and facilitate client house meetings for shelter and TLP.
• Assist residents in transition to new living situations including referrals and deposits.
• Clean and prepare rooms for new residents.
• Create a safe, clean-living environment in the shelter.
• Accompany victims to hospitals, police, or courts for advocacy and support.
• Stay informed on services, legislation and policies for victims/survivors.
• Maintain community referrals and provider relationships.
