Job summary

The Women's Center in Wisconsin is seeking a Shelter Advocate – Weekend to provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and support for shelter residents and hotline callers. This full-time, non-exempt role requires weekend coverage (Friday 4:00 pm–12:00 am; Saturday & Sunday 9:00 am–9:00 pm) at the 505 Building in Waukesha.

You will collaborate with staff, volunteers, and community partners to ensure safe shelter operations, maintain records, assist with transportation, and connect

Qualifications

• Experience in domestic violence or crisis services.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
• Good communication and listening skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide crisis intervention, advocacy, and referrals.
• Maintain a safe, welcoming shelter environment.
• Staff 24-hour crisis hotline coverage.
• Assist with transportation and community resources.
• Document client interactions and maintain records.
• Respond to emergencies and safety concerns.
• Coordinate with staff and volunteers.
• Uphold confidentiality.
