Job summary

YWCA Union County seeks a Part-Time Weekend Shelter Advocate to provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of domestic violence. This role involves crisis response, shelter intake, and coordination with housing services under the Director of Residential Services.

The position requires a BA/BSW or commensurate experience, cultural competency, and knowledge of trauma. Weekend shifts on Saturdays and Sundays from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM offer meaningful, mission-driven work in Elizabeth, NJ

Qualifications

• BA/BSW or commensurate experience.
• Must demonstrate cultural competency through either experience or education.
• Must have some knowledge and understanding of domestic violence and trauma.

Responsibilities

• Answer and help with the 24-hour domestic violence hotline.
• Refer clients to internal programs and community resources.
• Maintain Client’s files and caseload.
• Conduct client intake and needs assessment with required paperwork.
• Develop care plans and update them based on reassessments.
