Job summary

Women’s Advocates in Saint Paul, MN seeks a Shelter Advocate for overnight shifts to support residents with crisis counseling, safety planning, and resource coordination. The role requires crisis-line experience and compassionate, trauma-informed care, with duties including intake, documentation, and collaboration with Day One partners.

The position is full-time, non-exempt, in-office, with benefits and a pay rate of $26.00/hour plus a $1.50 shift differential.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working with vulnerable individuals, families and children.
• Extensive knowledge of local resources.
• Two years of experience with managing crisis calls.
• Criminal background check is required for this position.
• Second language preferred.

Responsibilities

• Screens and assesses callers and residents for immediate safety needs.
• Develops safety plans over the phone and in person.
• Provides counseling, advocacy, and crisis intervention services to residents and callers.
• Provides resources and referrals for legal, medical, financial, housing, education, transportation, and other community services.
• Documents and tracks all calls, services, resources, referrals, and resident interactions in Client Track and other required systems.
