Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and guide scheduling. The role supports a fast-paced registration area and ensures patient confidentiality.

Responsibilities include processing payments, assisting with scheduling, and explaining financial responsibilities to patients, with emphasis on accuracy and high-quality service in a hospital setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.
• 1-3 years related work experience.
• Experience with computer systems, including web-based applications and MS Office.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and confidentiality.
• Bilingual written and verbal communication skills; familiarity with EHR.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and explains the registration process to patients.
• Processes co-payments, co-insurance, deductibles and balances due; reconciles cash.
• Completes Medicare Questionnaire and adjusts patient coverage as needed.
• Obtains signatures on forms; scans and records documents from registration encounters.
• Counsels patients on non-covered services and ABNs.
• Maintains a neat, secure registration desk and patient areas.
• Initiates scheduling by prioritizing calls and messages; verifies information.
• Captures and verifies required patient data for insurance and payments.
• Communicates financial clearance status and coordinates with Financial Counseling.
