Job summary

Beth Israel Lahey Health is seeking a Patient Access Representative to join our fast-paced system services team. You will greet patients, collect demographics and insurance information, explain the registration process, and help patients understand payments while protecting privacy.

The role includes scheduling appointments, verifying eligibility in real time, resolving patient questions, and coordinating with clinical departments to ensure a smooth visit.

Qualifications

• Education: High school degree or equivalent. Associate's degree preferred.
• Experience: 1-3 years related work experience. Experience with computer systems required, including web-based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Access.
• Skills: Able to work in fast-paced, multi-task environment and process electronic information accurately.
• Preferred qualifications & Skills: Call Center and/or telephone customer service experience; strong typing skills 40+wpm; knowledge of medical terminology; bilingual; familiar with EHR Software.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients and explains the registration process.
• Processes payments and safeguards cash, reconciles drawer.
• Schedules, reschedules, and confirms patient appointments.
• Verifies insurance and eligibility, and informs patients of financial responsibilities.
• Maintains confidentiality and secure handling of patient information.
