Job summary

Moffatt & Nichol, a global waterfront infrastructure leader, seeks a Mid Level Structural Engineer in Norfolk, VA. You will deliver structural analyses, design and field support for naval and port projects, collaborating with senior staff to produce drawings, reports and cost estimates.

Requirements include a Civil Engineering degree, PE license, and 4–7 years of waterfront project experience; NAVFAC familiarity and UFC knowledge are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer licensure required; reciprocity in Virginia within 6 months of hire.
• 4–7 years of experience designing a wide range of structural projects.
• NAVFAC waterfront project experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of UFC for load conditions preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of structural analysis, modeling, capacity calculations and calculation reports.
• Lead the design and detailing for waterfront structures (concrete, steel, timber).
• Coordinate with senior engineers and managers to produce deliverables.
• Mentor junior engineers and interns.
• Perform field investigations and site visits; conduct construction QA/QC.
• Support designer of record with submittals, RFIs, and Change Orders.
