Moffatt & Nichol is seeking a Mid-Level Structural Engineer Inspector Bridge & Waterfront in our Norfolk, VA office. The role oversees inspections of transportation bridges, highways, and waterfront sites, using FHWA/NHI criteria to ensure safety and quality on local projects.

Qualified candidates have a Civil/Structural Engineering degree, PE licensure, and 4–7 years of inspection experience, with travel 10–15% and field-intensive work weeks. Virginia licensure within 6 months is required.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer licensure required; ability to obtain in Virginia within 6 months.
4–7 years of structural inspection experience.
FHWA-NHI-130055 certification.
NSTM/Fracture Critical certification FHWA-NHI-130078.

Responsibilities

Partners with other professionals and departments to gather information for projects.
Works collaboratively with all members of the inspection group.
Leads, coordinates and participates in field inspections, condition assessments and construction observation.
Utilizes data entry/manipulation and technical writing for reports and proposals.
Assist in preparing technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
Provides quality assurance reviews of inspection reports.
