Moffatt & Nichol, a leader in waterfront infrastructure, seeks a civil engineer with structural coursework to join our Houston, TX office. You will work with local and remote teams on ports, Navy facilities, marinas, and other waterfront projects, contributing to the design of large-scale structures for ships and maritime operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structural coursework required.
• Master's degree in Civil Engineering with structural emphasis strongly preferred.
• EIT certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience or internship in heavy civil, structural, or marine/waterfront design preferred.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD or comparable drafting platform.
• Proficiency with SAP2000 or equivalent structural analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Participates in conceptual development and design of waterfront structural projects across industries including container shipping, defense, marinas.
• Performs structural analysis, design, and detailing of concrete, steel, and timber structures.
• Analyzes static and dynamic loading on structures and soil-structure interaction.
• Develops finite element models of marine structures using software such as SAP2000 or similar.
• Prepares calculations and documents information for completed designs.
• Coordinates and develops structural drawings with engineers and drafters.
• Performs site visits and inspections of existing structures and prepares condition assessment reports.
• Supports construction administration including site visits, RFIs, and submittals.
