Job summary
Duke Energy is seeking an engineering intern to contribute to the Waste and Groundwater Programs within Environmental, Health, and Safety. You’ll work on real-world projects, learn from experienced engineers, and support regulatory and data activities across multiple facilities.
Opportunities span North Carolina, South Carolina, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, and Florida with hybrid/onsite options. Strong communication, leadership, and CAD/engineering tool proficiency are expected.
Qualifications
- ABET-accredited bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, chemical, or environmental engineering.
- Cumulative GPA 2.75 or higher.
- Proficiency in CAD tools, MFAD, STAAD Pro, MATLAB, PSS/E, Power World.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Leadership and teamwork abilities.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver results on time.
Responsibilities
- Assist environmental professionals with data review and regulatory submittals.
- Prepare reports, plans, procedures, and regulatory submittals.
- Coordinate with laboratories, site personnel, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
- Support waste characterization and disposal activities.
- Contribute to continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Office-based technical work with possible site interaction.
