Job summary

Duke Energy is seeking an engineering intern to work within the Waste and Groundwater Programs group of Environmental, Health, and Safety. The role focuses on office-based technical work supporting regulatory compliance, data review, and documentation across multiple sites.

The internship offers hands-on experience, mentorship, and exposure to national environmental requirements, with opportunities for cross-site collaboration and professional development.

Qualifications

• Enrolled and pursuing an ABET-accredited Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Chemical, and/or Environmental Engineering
• Must not graduate prior to August 2027
• Cumulative college GPA of 2.75 or higher
• Experience with engineering software and written communication skills are valued

Responsibilities

• Assist environmental professionals with review and management of analytical and compliance data.
• Prepare reports, plans, procedures, and regulatory submittals.
• Evaluate monitoring results and coordinate with laboratories, site personnel, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Support waste characterization and disposal activities, records reviews, permit and regulatory assessments, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
• Role focuses on office-based technical work with potential interaction with state and federal agencies.
