Job summary

The Valdosta Police Department is seeking a candidate for a position responsible for assisting in water utility meter readings and performing minor maintenance. Qualifications

• Knowledge of department safety policies and procedures.
• Knowledge of utility meter operations and maintenance principles.
• Sufficient experience usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or a similar position.

Responsibilities

• Operates a vehicle along an assigned route to read and record water usage data.
• Locates malfunctioning meters and makes minor repairs.
• Installs water meters for accounts with removed meters.
• Turns off and locks meters for nonpayment; reconnects once paid.
• Collects meter data using cell phone or tablet.
