Job summary

City of Pasadena is seeking a semi-skilled worker to perform manual tasks in wastewater line maintenance and to train junior Utility Workers. The role involves digging, replacing sewer lines, and ensuring correct pipe slope with trench work and backhoes or trenchers.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED plus related experience and a valid Texas CDL Class B with a clean driving record. Lifting and prolonged standing are required, with after-hours call-out possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus one year related experience and/or training.
• Valid Texas CDL Class B and good driving record.
• Position may require moderate to heavy lifting and carrying; kneeling, crouching and bending; pushing, pulling and reaching; and standing for prolonged periods.

Responsibilities

• Perform manual tasks at a semi-skilled level and train lower-level Utility Workers in the maintenance and construction of wastewater lines.
• Work on crew to dig up and replace sewer lines.
• Dig, shore-up, repair and back-fill; place pipe in trenches and ensure proper slope.
• Assemble and disassemble barricades; use hand tools and safety equipment at all times.
• May be subject to call out service after hours; maintain licenses, certifications, and clearances as required.
• Follow city timekeeping and attendance policies.
