Job summary

Veolia North America, LLC in Rhode Island is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Facility (WWTF) Operator to operate, monitor, and maintain wastewater treatment processes and equipment ensuring safety and regulatory compliance. You will perform routine lab tests, collect samples, adjust processes, and keep accurate records.

Strong emphasis on safety, on-call coverage, and collaboration with maintenance staff. Requires a high school diploma and experience with SCADA and regulated environments;

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in wastewater treatment, water treatment, industrial utilities, manufacturing, or mechanical operations.
• Experience with SCADA, CMMS, or industrial control systems.
• Experience operating pumps, blowers, centrifuges, belt presses, chemical-feed systems, or similar equipment.
• Basic mechanical, electrical, plumbing, or instrumentation experience.
• Previous experience working in a regulated industrial or municipal environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor wastewater treatment systems and related equipment.
• Inspect equipment for abnormal conditions, leaks, blockages, and odors.
• Collect wastewater and process samples; perform routine laboratory tests.
• Adjust treatment processes and equipment settings to maintain permit compliance.
• Record operating data, meter readings, laboratory results, and maintenance activities.
• Respond to alarms, spills, and other emergencies; operate vehicles and tools as needed.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance and assist with repairs.
• Maintain clean, safe work areas and follow safety procedures.
