Job summary

Veolia NA is seeking a skilled Wastewater Plant Operator to oversee the daily operation and maintenance of our wastewater treatment facility in Milwaukee. The role involves inside and outside operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, proper use of the filter press, and maintaining efficiency and safety.

Responsibilities include monitoring SCADA systems, collecting samples, performing lab tests, and documenting all activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; degree in environmental science or related field preferred.
• At least 2 years in wastewater treatment or related field.
• Familiarity with filter press operations and dewatering preferred.
• Proficient with computerized monitoring and data analysis systems.
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and adjust plant processes using SCADA and control interfaces.
• Analyze data from meters and analytical equipment to optimize operations.
• Perform routine laboratory testing to ensure discharge permit compliance.
• Document performance, adjustments, and maintenance in logs and reports.
• Inspect and maintain pumps, valves, clarifiers, aeration tanks, digesters.
• Collect samples for laboratory testing at various process points.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and assist with repairs.
• Operate and maintain the filter press for dewatering sludge.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal environmental and safety regulations.
• Collaborate with plant staff and train junior personnel as needed.
