Job summary

Manatee County Government is seeking a Maintenance Technician for its Wastewater Systems. The role involves a range of duties from trainee to lead levels, focused on repair, maintenance and operation of wastewater facilities, lift stations, lines and related equipment.

You may work with heavy vehicles and tools in varied outdoor conditions. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read and follow English instructions, and a willingness to participate in standby

Qualifications

• High school diploma or recognized equivalent.
• Observation and reading of blueprints, maps and drawings.
• Ability to follow oral and written directions in English.

Responsibilities

• Perform trainee-level through skilled maintenance tasks in wastewater lift stations.
• Maintain and repair wastewater pipelines, valves, pumps and related equipment.
• Operate service trucks and heavy equipment; assist in construction layouts and grading.
• Prepare parts and tools, maintain records, ensure site safety and respond to after-hours calls.
• Lead or train technicians as needed and participate in standby/on-call rotations.
