Job summary

City of Panama City Beach seeks a Lift Station Mechanic to perform maintenance and repairs on wastewater lift stations. The role includes on-call responses, pump/pipeline repairs, and SCADA testing, with certifications in FWPCOA required for progression through Mechanic levels.

The successful candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED and FWPCOA certifications, plus forklift operation. Work is performed on-site with occasional generator/trailer pump transport.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; some experience in mechanical/pumping systems preferred (Trainee).
• Mechanic C: 1 year with wastewater lift stations; FW&PCOA Class C Certification; forklift license.
• Mechanic B: 3 years with wastewater lift stations; FW&PCOA Class B Certification; forklift license.
• Mechanic A: 5 years with wastewater lift stations; FW&PCOA Class A Certification; forklift license.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily inspections and maintenance of lift stations; repair and replace pumps, pipes, valves, and fittings.
• Respond to on-call emergencies and trouble calls.
• Test and maintain pumps, alarms, and SCADA systems.
• Record pump readings and maintain logs; sample and analyze odorous gas data.
• Transport and install generators and trailer-mounted pumps as needed.
