Job summary

HDR is seeking a WTEM Business Class Director to lead the wastewater treatment and effluent management practice. You will drive technical capabilities, coordinate with market sectors, and oversee risk management for large, multi-disciplinary projects.

Travel up to 50% is expected, with responsibilities across HDR's national network. You will mentor technical leaders, advance research collaborations, and participate in client strategy, proposals, and project development, all while upholding HDR’s

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or closely related field.
• Professional registration/licensure required for leadership roles.
• Minimum 10 years of related field experience.
• Experience developing and managing diverse teams.
• Able to work cooperatively with other directors and managers.
• Committed to HDR values and employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Provide company-wide leadership of technical capabilities within the business class.
• Coordinate with related business classes, market sectors, and operations.
• Lead technical risk management and ensure project quality.
• Drive quality assurance and control processes with the Quality Manager.
• Oversee development and application of tools, standards, and techniques.
• Assign qualified staff to projects and manage resources across offices.
• Develop strategic plans for the business class and provide input to leadership.
• Lead engagement with industry and academic partners to advance capabilities.
• Mentor technical leaders and oversee staff development.
• Support client management, proposals, and project development.
