Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Lead Engineer to drive Continuous Improvement across operations in Nashville. The role uses data analytics, lean tools, and engineering methodologies to deliver safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.

You will interface with multiple levels, manage CI projects, and coach teams in lean practices. As a senior CI leader, you’ll develop and execute transformation plans, support start-ups and expansions, and work closely with account management and customers

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain with 7+ years in Warehousing, Transportation, or Manufacturing.
• Master's degree in Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or Supply Chain with 5+ years of related experience; MBA requires undergrad in Engineering.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) at expert level.
• Data visualization (Power BI, Tableau) and database programming (SQL, DAX) at intermediate level.
• Knowledge of Leader Standard Work, Visual Management Systems, PDCA, VSM, Kaizen, 5S/Workplace Organization.
• Understanding core engineering and data analysis functions (slotting, labor planning, layouts, metrics).

Responsibilities

• Collects data and performs statistical analysis; maps processes and identifies gaps; develops improvement plans.
• Manages high impact CI projects across the operation to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, and growth.
• Coaches employees in CI, QA, and Lean principles; applies tools like Kaizen events and A3 charters.
• Supervises CI and quality professionals; participates in hiring and performance management with manager.
• Facilitates Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events; drives sustainment of improvements.
• Provides regular data-driven progress reports and strategic recommendations for inventory and supply chain.
