Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. is seeking a Warehouse Automation Engineer to identify, pilot, and deploy new automation technologies across client sites. You will work with operations, IT and product teams to prove feasibility and value, then drive implementation and continuous improvement.

The role requires hands-on collaboration with stakeholders, strong data analytics, and experience with various automation platforms. Travel up to 30-40% is expected in this position.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Master's Degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related field of study (Preferred).
• 3+ years in warehouse automation, material handling tech, industrial engineering or warehouse systems integration.
• 2+ years demonstrated experience in warehouse automation.
• 2+ years in warehouse automation with technologies such as sortation conveyors, goods-to-person, autonomous vehicles/robots, AS/RS (Preferred).
• Automation, management consulting, and robotics experience.
• Knowledge of Warehouse Management operations, Lean methods and data analytics.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and automation types.
• Warehouse design tools (CAD, slotting, MOST, simulation, WMS, Labor Mgmt); data viz tools a plus (Tableau/Power BI).
• Industrial or Mechanical Engineering knowledge or equivalent warehouse ops knowledge.
• Experience in financial business case analysis to support ROI (Intermediate, Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Lead automation technology selection and ROI justification for new business opportunities.
• Support design validation and review options for cost effectiveness and SLA targets.
• Assist in vendor evaluations, RFQ reviews and SOW validations.
• Coordinate on-site project milestones, plans and punch lists.
• Support data analytics from dashboards to optimize systems and WMS/WES.
• Coordinate SAT testing and post-go-live punch list tracking.
• Assist in tracking project budgets and cost controls.
• Serve as a liaison among operations, IT, solution design and vendors.
