Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. seeks a Warehouse Automation Engineer to identify, pilot, and deploy new automation technologies across multiple sites, coordinating with operations, IT, and design teams. You will drive ROI analysis, vendor reviews, and project management for small to mid-size automation initiatives.

The role requires strong leadership, data analytics, and a hands-on, collaborative approach to deliver measurable improvements in efficiency and uptime across our network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree preferred.
• 3+ years in warehouse automation or related field preferred.
• 2+ years demonstrated experience in warehouse automation.
• Experience with sortation conveyors, AGVs/ robots, AS/RS preferred.
• Financial ROI analysis and business case experience preferred.
• Knowledge of WMS, data analytics and Lean methods.
• Knowledge of material handling equipment and automation design.
• CAD/slotting/MOST/simulation/WMS tools knowledge a plus.
• Industrial or Mechanical Engineering background with operational warehouse knowledge.
• Experience in ROI tracking and budget alignment.

Responsibilities

• Lead automation technology evaluation and ROI justification for new business opportunities.
• Support automation project leads in vendor selection and SOW validation.
• Provide input to solution designs for operational performance.
• Coordinate design options across vendors, ensuring cost effectiveness and SLA targets.
• Assist with procurement and vendor reviews; prepare collateral for tech reviews.
• Assist with project planning, milestones, and on-site implementation support.
• Monitor punch lists and track post-go-live uptime and SAT testing.
• Profile data from dashboards to support system optimization and analytics.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define pilot concepts and POAs.
• Support strategy reviews with leadership and track project budget.
• Act as a change agent to drive adoption of warehouse automation and coach stakeholders.
