Job summary

The University of Utah's Financial Wellness Center seeks a student-centered Program Coordinator to support VITA programs, tax clinics, and financial planning activities. This role directly impacts student success and well-being through coordinated volunteer efforts, trainings, and educational programming.

Responsibilities include coordinating VITA site operations, supervising student mentors, delivering financial counseling, and contributing to program evaluation and improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent required.
• 2 years related experience required.
• Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
• IRS VITA/TCE Basic, Advanced, Foreign Student, Quality Review, and Site Coordinator certifications within first tax season; preferred.
• Accredited Financial Counseling (AFC) Certification required or in process.

Responsibilities

• Support FWC's VITA Site Coordinator, acting as primary contact for VITA program including appointments scheduling and volunteer communications.
• Co-coordinate day-to-day operations of the VITA tax clinic, including volunteer recruitment, onboarding, scheduling, and recognition activities.
• Ensure IRS training, certification, and reporting compliance, including quality review of returns and e-file timelines.
• Escalate site-level compliance issues, volunteer conduct concerns, or IRS-facing risks promptly.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day support for student peer mentors; coordinate schedules.
• Develop and maintain learning modules and educational programming on taxation and financial planning.
