Job summary

Commonwealth of Pennsylvania invites applications for a Tourist Information Counselor role at the Tioga County Welcome Center. You will assist travelers with directions, lodging, and tourism information, delivering friendly, customer-focused service in a fast-paced Welcome Center environment.

The position requires basic public contact experience and computer skills, with on-call shifts and no telework option.

Qualifications

One year of experience in work involving public contact; or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Ability to report to work within 1 hour of being called in.
Front-facing public contact experience.
Experience working with computers.
Experience answering phones, composing emails, compiling reports, tracking office activities and inventory, entering data, and filing.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide directions, lodging information, and guidance to visitors seeking help.
Support special programs, tours, and events with tourism groups.
Maintain organized displays, stock supplies, and keep the Welcome Center clean.
Prepare daily reports, track visitor counts, and manage literature inventory.
Address unexpected situations by resolving routine concerns or contacting proper personnel.
Complete general administrative tasks and assist supervisors with ongoing projects.
