Responsibilities

While this position provides virtual patient companion services to the patients of CommonSpirit Health across the United States, it must be performed on-site at our Phoenix AZ Virtual Hospital located at 3033 N. 3rd Avenue.

Virtual Patient Companion

Working as a Patient Companion is a rewarding career that helps people in need across the U.S. in a 24/7 virtual call center environment. As part of our specialized team at CommonSpirit Health's Virtual Hospital in Phoenix, AZ, this role involves monitoring high-risk patients identified for fall risk, elopement, drug/alcohol use, disorientation, or other safety concerns across 140+ hospitals in 21 states. Compassionate individuals comfortable communicating with emotionally distressed or in-pain patients are ideal. The role requires maintaining calmness under stress and responding effectively to ensure patient safety and comfort.

What you'll do:

• Use live streaming video and two-way communication to monitor assigned patients nationwide.
• Recognize behavioral changes and evaluate situations for appropriate response or escalation.
• Engage with patients to provide reassurance and gather critical information for onsite staff.
• Report urgent situations to the care team promptly.

Qualifications

Required: High school diploma or equivalent with 3 years recent patient care experience or certification/education in a healthcare field.

Preferred: Current healthcare certification/license or enrollment in a healthcare program.

Skills and Abilities:

• Learn to operate streaming and hospital systems.
• Maintain constant observation and follow protocols.
• Document accurately and establish effective relationships.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and perform basic math.
• Adhere to safety and privacy regulations.
