Shift: 12 Hour Night Shift

Description: Please note that this position is not remote and requires on-campus work at Loyola.

Job Responsibilities

This role involves assisting nursing staff with continuous remote camera monitoring of patients requiring close observation. The incumbent works cooperatively with healthcare personnel to maintain a safe environment, ensuring patient safety and comfort. The position reports to the Manager of Virtual Monitoring and works under limited supervision.

  1. Maintain visual alertness on a computer screen monitoring 12-16 active patients without distraction.
  2. Remain alert to patient behaviors, recognize and address harmful behaviors proactively.
  3. Monitor patient movements via closed-circuit cameras with pan/tilt/zoom capabilities.
  4. Communicate verbally with patients through a digital 2-way audio device and alert nursing staff as needed.
  5. Maintain a calm, respectful, empathetic, and professional tone during interactions.
  6. Meet nursing staff expectations to ensure patient safety.
  7. Provide detailed shift-to-shift reports on patient activity to colleagues and nursing staff.
Requirements
  • Strong mental capacity to verbally interact with 12-16 patients in various states of distress while maintaining focus.
  • Ability to work 12-hour shifts in a 24/7 healthcare environment.
  • Willingness to work weekends and holidays as required.
  • Ability to report on patient activity verbally and in writing.
  • Basic computer skills; on-the-job training will be provided.
  • Healthcare experience is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Education: Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent.
Additional Information

Pay Range: $16.50 - $22.11 per hour. Compensation varies based on experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification, and peer comparison.
