Job summary

General Motors is seeking an experienced simulation engineer to support virtual engineering and manufacturing readiness across multiple vehicle programs. You will perform dynamic simulations, assess designs for manufacturability, and lead virtual builds, collaborating with manufacturing, architecture, product, and software teams to deliver accurate results.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, computer science, or a related technical field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
  • Experience with dynamic simulation, manufacturing process analysis, virtual engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Working capability with Siemens Process Simulate, Tecnomatix, or a comparable manufacturing simulation platform.
  • Working capability with Teamcenter, including navigating product structures, reviewing engineering data, and supporting virtual engineering workflows.
  • Working knowledge of Manufacturing Process Planner, VisMockup, or comparable tools.
  • Understanding of General Assembly processes and manufacturing readiness, including the relationship between product design, process design, tooling, equipment, and operator interaction.
  • Basic to intermediate coding or scripting in Python, C#, VBA, or similar, to automate repetitive work.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides, Drive).
  • Experience with Jira and Confluence for project information management.
  • Ability to learn new software quickly.
  • Ability to manage multiple active programs and communicate risks early.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dynamic simulations for manufacturing operations using Siemens Process Simulate and Tecnomatix.
  • Assess designs, tooling, interfaces for manufacturing readiness and identify risks early.
  • Lead or support virtual builds across the product lifecycle with Manufacturing Process Planner.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to clarify objectives, review inputs, and communicate results.
  • Review engineering data in Teamcenter and visualization tools to identify missing or duplicate study requests.
  • Configure simulation workcells, document issues, and recommend improvements to designs.
  • Prioritize work across programs based on timing and workload.
  • Perform quality reviews of simulation studies and mentor newer team members.
  • Maintain program tracking records and simulation libraries.
  • Help validate software releases and troubleshoot issues in related systems.
  • Use AI-enabled workflows to reduce repetitive work and improve processes.
  • Identify practical improvements to methods, reports, and tools.
  • Support vehicle program launches by identifying manufacturing risks earlier.
