Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Virtual Hardware Model Engineer to lead development of high-fidelity plant models in MATLAB/Simulink and collaborate with hardware, software, and supplier teams. You will parameterize models from design data and drive integration into CoSim environments, documenting assumptions and validation results.

You will mentor peers, advance modeling standards, and help scale capabilities across programs within a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering, math, physics, CS, or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years in product development, systems engineering, or software/hardware connectivity.
• Proficiency with MATLAB/Simulink or similar model-based tools.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to plan, lead, and direct multiple tasks and teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop high-fidelity component plant models in MATLAB/Simulink emulating hardware interfaces.
• Collaborate across functions to translate designs into modeling requirements.
• Implement models for use in CoSim environments with correct I/O and naming.
• Parameterize models using supplier data and test results to improve fidelity.
• Support integration of plant models into larger system and vehicle co-simulation environments.
• Use models to perform what-if studies and validate before hardware is available.
• Document modeling assumptions, calibration parameters, and validation results.
• Lead development and maintenance of model requirements documentation and appendices.
• Contribute to standard methods and libraries for component plant modeling and mentor peers.
