Job summary

VEG is seeking Veterinary Nursing Shift Leads to keep shifts flowing and ensure top-tier patient care. You will guide VEGgies, coordinate rounds and breaks, and coach the team to maintain a calm, efficient environment.

You will own the shift rhythm, communicate clearly, and support hospital leadership while upholding the VEG mission to help people and their pets. Nights, weekends, and holidays may be required.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician or in VEG credentialing program.
• Experience in veterinary emergency or specialty medicine preferred.
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics.

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient status and team bandwidth during shifts.
• Manage daily workflow and adapt to unexpected events.
• Assign and adjust shift roles with clarity and care.
• Step in on the floor when help is needed.
• Lead breaks, conflict resolution, and on-floor coaching.
• Coordinate shift transitions and end-of-day wrap-ups.
