Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking a Veterinary Nursing Shift Lead to guide夜shift rhythm, ensure top-tier care, and support VEGgies on the floor. You’ll coach teams through rounds, breaks, and transitions, maintaining a calm, efficient environment even during busy periods.

You are a credentialed technician with 1+ year of ER experience, strong communication, and a genuine care for patients and staff. This full-time role offers growth, learning opportunities, and a focus on mentorship.

Qualifications

• Credentialed veterinary technician or enrolled in VEG credentialing program.
• 1+ year of experience as a veterinary technician or assistant; emergency experience preferred.
• Strong communication and conflict resolution skills; leadership orientation.

Responsibilities

• Keep a clear pulse on patient status, team bandwidth, and shift-wide needs.
• Manage daily workflow and pivot the team when the unexpected hits.
• Ensure shift roles are assigned and adapted with clarity and care.
• Jump in on the floor when help is needed; no task is too small.
• Coordinate breaks, assist with conflict resolution, and model calm under pressure.
• Lead shift transitions, team huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups.
• Communicate clearly, direct questions appropriately, and elevate key issues.
• Turn downtime into learning time and support team growth.
• Flag incidents with transparency and a growth mindset.
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and ongoing coaching.
