Job summary

VEG ER for Pets is seeking Veterinary Nursing Shift Leads to keep shifts running smoothly, ensuring top-tier patient care and supporting VEGgies on the floor. You’ll coordinate breaks, coach staff, and maintain a calm, efficient ER workflow.

You’ll bring CVT/RVT/LVT/LVMT credentials or be enrolled in VEG Credentialing to grow within a fast-paced, patient-centered emergency team. Expect flexible night/weekend coverage in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a veterinary technician or assistant role; emergency or specialty experience preferred.
• Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, LVMT) preferred
• Strong grasp of clinical workflow and team dynamics
• Leadership instincts, ownership mindset, growth-oriented attitude
• Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills

Responsibilities

• Monitor patient status and team bandwidth on shift
• Manage daily workflow and adapt to emergencies
• Assign shift roles with clarity and care
• Jump in on the floor when help is needed—no task is too small
• Coordinate breaks, resolve conflicts, and model calm under pressure
• Lead shift transitions, team huddles, and end-of-day wrap-ups
• Communicate clearly and escalate key issues
• Turn downtime into learning time for the team
• Flag incidents with transparency and growth mindset
• Collaborate with hospital leadership on coverage and coaching
