Job summary

Wounded Warrior Project seeks a Benefits Services Manager to lead a team of service officers, assisting veterans with DoD/VA benefits and managing claims from local and remote staff. You will drive performance, ensure accurate accreditation, and collaborate with VA partners to represent veterans effectively.

The role requires VA accreditation, five years of advocacy experience, and at least three years in leadership, with strong Microsoft Office skills and a passion for serving wounded warriors.

Qualifications

• Five years of veterans benefits advocacy experience as a VA accredited service officer.
• Three years of leadership and/or management experience.
• Bachelor's degree required; equivalent combinations may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Manage a service officer team of local and remote WWP staff to identify benefits and assist/submit claims.
• Lead the team as liaison between VA and wounded service members; advocate for claims.
• Oversee an active caseload at least 33% above team average.
• Provide performance feedback to teammates on key competencies.
• Train and develop service officers; ensure VA accreditation readiness.
• Represent WWP at public events and educate veterans about benefits.
• Build partnerships with WWP teammates, VA staff, and community orgs.
• Meet or exceed timeliness and success goals for benefits claims.
• Report progress and benefit trends to leadership using process data.
• Stay updated on veterans benefits trends and medical conditions relevant to veterans.
• Attend required trainings and departmental meetings; participate in huddles.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
