Job summary

Texas A&M University-San Antonio in the Student Affairs division seeks a Veteran Affairs Coordinator. Under general supervision, you will provide exceptional service to students, faculty, and staff, and share information about state and federal VA Educational Benefits.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree or higher and two years in records or information technology; you will coordinate enrollment verification, assist with outreach events, and present workshops on VA resources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in related field.
• Two years of related experience in managing records, student programs, and/or working in information technology.
• Two years of related experience in higher education.
• Experience serving veterans; ability to communicate with military community and all management levels.
• Excellent verbal, written communication skills; knowledge of Microsoft Publisher and Adobe Acrobat.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication; organizational and interpersonal skills.
• May require a valid driver's license.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinates all services relating to VA Educational Benefits including recruitment, registration, certification, and retention.
• Request, proofs, and distribute transcripts and enrollment verification.
• Monitor enrollment and report to VA; ensure courses are in approved major and not repeated.
• Advise veteran students and help resolve pay and certification problems.
• Plan and execute outreach events related to VA education benefits.
• Assist in presenting workshops/orientations for VA resources to students, community, faculty, and staff.
• Assist in on-campus programming for VA benefits across topics.
• Prepare written correspondence/reports regarding certification processes and VA guidelines.
