Job summary

WestCare Georgia Inc. is seeking a dedicated outreach and engagement specialist to support veterans and service members at risk of suicide. You will build trust, connect participants to essential services, and promote hope and recovery through trauma-informed care.

The role requires coordinating with VA facilities, community providers, and referrals, plus maintaining confidential, timely documentation and participating in trainings. Some travel and flexible hours may be needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of relevant experience.
• Experience working with high-risk populations.
• Knowledge of suicide prevention principles and trauma-informed care.
• Ability to travel regularly within the service area.
• Military/Veteran status required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach and engagement with veterans and service members at risk of suicide.
• Provide support and mentorship using lived experience to empower participants.
• Assist individuals in navigating mental health, substance use services, housing, crisis intervention.
• Coordinate with local VA facilities, community providers, and referrals.
• Participate in suicide prevention trainings and maintain knowledge of best practices.
• Maintain accurate documentation of all interactions and services in compliance with grant requirements and confidentiality.
• Support follow-up efforts to ensure continued engagement.
• Promote protective factors such as connectedness and resilience.
• Attend team meetings, supervision, and relevant community events.
