Job summary

WestCare Inc. is seeking an Outreach Specialist in Milwaukee to develop and implement veteran-focused outreach, engagement, and referral activities under the Sergeant Fox Suicide Prevention Grant Program.

The role builds partnerships with veteran-serving organizations, healthcare providers, and community agencies to increase program awareness and reduce barriers to care for veterans and their families. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one year of experience in outreach, veteran services, social services, or related field.
• Experience developing community partnerships and coordinating outreach activities is preferred.
• Familiarity with military culture, veteran resources, and suicide prevention initiatives preferred.
• Veteran status preferred.
• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement outreach strategies to identify and engage veterans and eligible participants.
• Conduct outreach in community settings and veteran service organizations.
• Establish and maintain collaborations with VA facilities and community partners.
• Coordinate participation in events, resource fairs, and veteran-focused activities.
• Provide information on program eligibility, services, and referral processes.
• Identify participants and facilitate referrals to case management and other services.
• Maintain documentation of outreach activities and program outcomes.
• Represent WestCare professionally at meetings and coalitions.
• Ensure activities are culturally responsive and trauma-informed.
