Job summary

Caritas of Austin in Austin, TX is seeking a Veteran Specialist to join the Client Services team in the SSVF program. This full-time role focuses on eligibility screening, case management, and helping very low-income veterans and their families obtain and retain permanent affordable housing.

You will maintain timely records in HMIS, collaborate with community partners, and manage a caseload of 17+ households while supporting outreach to veterans.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; social work or related human services field preferred.
• Master’s degree in social work or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Identify veterans experiencing homelessness or at risk.
• Conduct comprehensive SSVF intake assessment.
• Assist veterans in developing Housing Stabilization Plan and conduct home visits.
• Monitor Housing Stabilization Plan to promote self-sufficiency.
• Provide comprehensive case management and referrals to community resources.
• Maintain HMIS records and regular reports.
• Manage a caseload of 17+ households.
• Collaborate with community partners and employers.
