Job summary

University of California, Irvine is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist in the Operating Room, prepare and stock the OR, and maintain aseptic technique. The role requires flexibility to float to all UCI Health locations in Orange County and Los Angeles area as needed.

Experience in multiple specialties and completion of an accredited surgical technology program are required, along with BLS certification and ability to work evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility.
• Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology.
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
• BLS Required
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Tech assists with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room.
• Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery.
• Gathers clean and sterile supplies.
• Sets sterile instrument fields.
• Maintains and monitors aseptic techniques.
• Assists with the orientation of new staff and participates on departmental committees.
