Job summary

UCI Health is seeking a Surgical Tech to assist with direct patient care in the Operating Room. Responsibilities include preparing and stocking the OR, gathering sterile supplies, setting sterile fields, and maintaining aseptic technique.

Must be able to float to all UCI Health locations as needed. Requires a two-year surgical technologist background, completion of an accredited surgical technology program, and ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility.
• Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology.
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
• Completion of clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology.

Responsibilities

• The Surgical Tech is responsible for assisting with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room.
• Prepares and stocks the OR before and after surgery; gathers clean and sterile supplies.
• Sets sterile instrument fields; maintains and monitors aseptic techniques.
• Assists with the orientation of new staff and participates on departmental committees.
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
