Job summary

UCI Health in Irvine, CA seeks a Surgical Technician to support the operating room team with instrument setup, sterile technique, and patient care. You will stock ORs, assist surgeons, and help orient new staff across locations.

The role requires adaptability to float between campuses, weekend/evening shifts, and strong English communication. A Scrub Technician certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• Two years of demonstrated surgical technologist experience in multiple specialties in an acute care facility.
• Successful completion of an accredited course in surgical technology.
• Completion of clinical training in an acute care perioperative setting, preferably in an academic medical center.
• Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English, and understanding of medical terminology.
• Required to float to all locations of UCI Health as needed.
• Ability to work variable shifts including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist with direct patient care activities in the Operating Room.
• Prepare and stock the OR before and after surgery.
• Gather clean and sterile supplies and set sterile instrument fields.
• Maintain and monitor aseptic techniques.
• Assist with the orientation of new staff.
• Participate on departmental committees.
